PlasmidForge: An agentic partner for plasmid design
Abstract
For synthetic and molecular biologists, DNA plasmid design is a semi-manual stepping stone for diverse applications, including the study of gene function, production of recombinant proteins, and synthetic circuit design. In spite of its position as a starting block, the tools supporting plasmid design remain fragmented and require many manual steps. Here we present PlasmidForge, an agentic partner for DNA plasmid assembly, design, and analysis at scale, integrating many common tools and expert knowledge. Preliminary benchmarking across task completion and sequence accuracy suggests that the PlasmidForge harness performs substantially better than frontier models alone. Real-world case studies also suggest that use of PlasmidForge can also streamline production of plasmids in bulk, saving human time and reducing latency without sacrificing accuracy.
