Carol Handwerker

Carol Handwerker serves as Head of Technology Strategy in the CHIPS Program Office at the United States Department of Commerce. Carol joined CHIPS in July 2023. She is on leave from Purdue where she is the Reinhardt Schuhmann, Jr. Distinguished Professor of Materials Engineering and Environmental and Ecological Engineering at Purdue University. Before joining Purdue in 2005, she was at NIST for 21 years, serving as the co-lead for Advanced Packaging in the Office of Microelectronics Programs and as the Chief of the NIST Metallurgy Division At NIST, she worked closely with the US electronics industry in the global transition to Pb-free electronics.
