Nearby Airports

The closest international airport is in Reno, Nevada. This is the one we recommend you fly into. However, it may also be possible to fly into San Francisco or Sacramento, California and take a bus or rental car to Lake Tahoe.

Shuttle/Bus from the Reno Airport

Transportation will be provided by http://www.destination-tahoe.com/. The service at $52.00 round-trip is private, includes greeters at the airport and at the hotel for the departures, offers a 24 hour phone number should you need to change your transfer time (for which there is no fee). Transfer times are blocked based on flights within 45 minutes of each other and if a flight is delayed a new vehicle will be ordered for that flight so that the other travelers do not have to wait. Should a flight arrive after 11:15pm due to delays, unlike the public shuttle Destination Tahoe will still have a greeter and a vehicle for you. The public transfer will not. If you need to cancel your trip prior to the conference (at least 14 days prior) Destination Tahoe will refund your transportation ticket minus a $3.00 processing fee. The transfer time to the airport is also shorter as you are not stopping at multiple hotels to pick up guests.

Driving

Driving from Reno, Nevada (e.g. in a rental car) is the best path because it's a relatively short drive and the roads are wide and well maintained.

Driving from California can be much more hazardous in heavy snow and the route is more often subject to closure. Though this is not incredibly common in early December, you may want to avoid planning on California highways anyway.
