Black in AI exists to create a space for sharing ideas, foster collaborations, and discuss initiatives to increase the presence of Black individuals in the field of AI. To this end, we hold an annual technical workshop series, run mentoring programs, and maintain various fora for fostering partnerships and collaborations with and among black AI researchers. The 4th Black in AI workshop and 1st virtual Black in AI workshop will consist of selected oral presentations, invited keynote speakers, a joint poster session with other affinity groups, sponsorship sessions, and socials. Our workshop exists to amplify the voices of black researchers at NeurIPS.

His research lies broadly in the field of Artificial Intelligence, with a focus on detection of Change in Data Mining and Machine Learning. Victor is also interested in: Financial Machine Learning, Time-Series Analysis, Ethics, Fairness and Bias in Machine Learning.

Flora Ponjou Tasse (Selerio)
Krystal Maughan (University of Vermont)

I'm currently researching isogeny based cryptography, and have also published in fairness and privacy.

Eric Maigua (OpenAI)
Charles Earl (Automattic)

Charles is data scientist based in Atlanta, Georgia. He currently works at Automattic, the parent company of the WordPress platform. He has worked on research and development of AI based systems since the late 1990's after completing his doctorate at the University of Chicago.

Nwamaka (Amaka) Okafor (University College Dublin)
Ignatius Ezeani (Lancaster University)

*Dr Ignatius Ezeani* A Senior Teaching/Research Associate with the Data Science Group at Lancaster University. I'm interested in the application of NLP techniques in building resources for low-resource languages especially African languages, but my interests span other related areas like corpus linguistics, distributional semantics, machine learning, deep neural models and general AI.

Oloruntobiloba Olatunji (Enlitic)
Foutse Yuehgoh (Paris Saclay)
Foutse Yuehgoh

I am currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Computer Science, working on the intersection of graphs and NLP for recommender systems. The main objective of my work is to define an optimized system for information retrieval and recommendation of technological development. I have a strong desire and passion to increase the active participation of women and young girls in STEM fields and above all demystify Artificial intelligence (AI) in my home country, as a result, together with friends, I founded the KmerAI community and co-founded WPSYG (Women Promoting Sciences to the Younger Generation) association. In addition to that, I am equally a co-organizer for the Women in Machine Learning & Data Sciences (WiMLDS), Yaoundé chapter, and a volunteer at Black in AI.

Salomey Osei (African Institute for Mathematical Sciences)

Salomey is a research assistant at DeustoTech, University of Deusto. She is also a researcher at Masakhane and the research lead of unsupervised methods for Ghana NLP. She has been involved with a number of organizations such as Black in AI, Women in Machine Learning (WiML) and Women in Machine Learning and Data Science (WiMLDS) as a co-organiser. She is also passionate about mentoring students, especially females in STEM and her long term goal is to share her knowledge with others by lecturing.

Ezinne Nwankwo (Duke University)
