Getting to the Conference or Workshops

Most people will want to fly into Reno International Airport, located in Reno, Nevada. This is the nearest large airport and the only airport where we've arranged transportation to the hotels.

Transportation to/from Airport to Venue

We highly recommend you reserve a private bus or shuttle seat with our transportation partner, Destination Tahoe. Please make your reservation by Monday, November 19 - after this date seating is not guaranteed but is distributed as available.

Destination Tahoe Details

If you've made your reservation, you will be met in the baggage claim area by Destination Tahoe. They schedule either a bus, van, town car, or SUV depending on how many passengers are arriving at a given time. So it's important to let them know your flight details. If your flight is delayed they will track your arrival time so you won't be left behind.

The longest anyone should wait for transportation is 45-50 minutes and most people will wait less than that. The shuttle drive to Lake Tahoe will take about an hour, depending on the weather.

You may schedule your pickup and drop-off anytime between December 1 - December 9.

Driving

We do not recommend driving to the venue since the roads may be snowy or icy. Driving conditions can be quite poor in Winter; the author has personal experience driving in Lake Tahoe during Winter.

If you are going to rent a car, please be comfortable driving in snowy or icy conditions, and be prepared to put snow chains on the tires.

Driving from Reno

Driving from Reno is relatively easy, and the roads from Reno are better able to handle snow and ice. If you have to drive yourself, we recommend driving from Reno.

Rental Cars in Reno

A list of rental car companies may be found here: http://renoairport.com/tofrom-airport/rental-cars

Driving from San Francisco or Sacramento in California

This is a much longer drive than from Reno, Nevada and the roads are much less tolerant of bad conditions. In case of bad weather, the road from Sacramento might be closed. For this reason we recommend coming from Reno.
